“With passion and resolve, we work tirelessly to ensure opportunities to succeed are equitably available to youth and community.”

Dreamcatcher Initiative is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that serves the Boston area. Our programs are grounded in three pillars - youth and community empowerment, entrepreneurship, and bridging the gap between resources, supports and community. Our work aims to equip our community and youth with the tools, skills, and support they need to remain hopeful and resilient in the face of hardship and adversity.

Our Mission

DCI aims to eliminate the state of being that is hopeless in underserved youth populations by creating pathways and programs that will help them achieve their dreams and realize their potential.

WHAT WE DO

We are committed to creating equitable solutions to societal, community, interpersonal, and individual barriers that inhibit pathways of success for underserved youth populations. We do this work with empathy, commitment, transparency, community, and access.

Empathy: As a leadership team and staff, our lived experiences and understanding of the needs of the community drive our work connecting with youth, centering their voices, and addressing their needs through our programming.

Commitment: We are committed to using a racial equity lens to identify, analyze, and address unjust systems that historically and presently negatively affect the quality of life of Black and Brown youth.

Transparency: We understand the history of marginalized communities being deceived and left out of conversations, thus we are deeply committed to ensuring the community has a seat at the DCI table.

Community: We value our trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work in partnership with communities to ensure our work is effective, efficient, equitable, and sustainable.

Access: We open the doors for those closest to the pain to stand in their power and gain access to social and economic opportunities.

Our vision

Our vision is to work in partnership to create behavioral change and meaningful pathways to success. Our sole purpose is to provide youth access to programs and mentorship, build their confidence and skills, increase their sense of self-worth, and connect them with available resources to help enhance their personal and professional development. Our work will collectively result in improved youth outcomes, reduced community violence, and a new generation of empowered and hopeful leaders.

We believe

We believe in building our youth up, all while embracing their change and growth.

We believe in meeting people where they are at and not enforcing change!

We believe in listening to the community and youth to understand what they need and want and putting those closest to the pain at the center of the conversation.

Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird,
That cannot fly.
